Veteran Army Ranger. Proven Conservative.

Meet Mike Dugan.

Carrollton Roots

Growing up in Carroll County, Mike Dugan graduated from Bowdon High School in 1981, where he played football and ran track.

After earning his Bachelors in History from West Georgia, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He returned to West Georgia to earn his Master’s Degree in Organizational Development.

Army Ranger

Dugan was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry, ultimately becoming an Army Ranger and Master Paratrooper.

During his more than 20 year career in the Army, he was deployed to more than 32 countries, including Israel and hostile fire deployments in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2008.

Coming Home

Following his military career, Dugan and his family moved back to Carrollton. He joined RA-LIN and Associates as a respected project manager and executive in commercial construction. He worked on numerous projects, including construction of the West Georgia stadium.

Conservative Senator

Feeling a call back to public service, Dugan ran for State Senate and was elected in early 2013. His representation of Georgia's 30th District included portions of Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, and Paulding counties. He served as Governor Deal’s Floor Leader before his Senate peers elected him Majority Leader in 2018.

In addition, Dugan served as Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and the Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee, as well as Vice Chair of Economic Development and Tourism, Ex-Officio of Public Safety, and Member of the Rules and Appropriations Committees.

Republican for Congress

Mike met his wife Missy during undergrad at UWG. They were married in 1987 and have two grown children, Meghan and Beau.

Mike and Missy remain active in the community, and Missy works in leadership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

In 2024, Mike announced his campaign for Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, promising to take his results-first approach to Congress to put the district, and country, first.
